Loss of innocence is when a person loses something that is important to them. I don't know any people who have had life changing events but I can give an example of a loss of innocence. The setting is Virgina, August twenty- third a Sunday and a family of five were at home in there very small one floor house. A little girl, around the age of five years old, was sitting on her father's lap as he stroked her long brown mangled hair. She heard a very faint sort of humming sound that sounded like it was coming towards the house. Her father jumped off the floor that he was sitting on and the little girl fell to the floor. Her dad picked her up and handed her to her mother. Her mother called the little girl's three brothers to go outside with them. The little girl watched as her dad sprinted towards her room not knowing what was going on. Her three older brothers came running towards her from the kitchen but she still didn't see her dad. She started to cry but her mother just carried her out of the unstable house with the other three siblings right behind them. They all stood there waiting for there Dad to come out of the house. In a split second the house started to crumble down. The house was shaking terribley but there was still no sign of the little girl's father. Without any warning the whole house collasped and the little girl knew that her dad had not made it out of the house. Later in the day the family heard that a earthquake struck Richmond and that it registered as a 5.9 on the rictor scale. The little girl was very sad for a very long time because she didn't understand why her house fell or why the earthquake happened at that time. But then later in life when she would lose her other family members she wouldn't be as sad as she might of been if her dad didn't die when she was young. When the little girl grew up she knew why her dad died and how it happened. But the little girl at her current age is now not considered a little girl who is just cute and doesn't know anything. The little girl knows now that anything can be taken away from you at anytime so now even without her knowing it she has lost her innocence she has become as mature as her mom, her brothers, and even her dad.
