The photograph of John Daly playing golf doesn't mean that I like John Daly it just means that I like to play golf. I got started playing golf last year around my baseball season. I complained to my dad that I didn't have the patience for it but he still made me try it. I started out just by hitting balls on the driving range of a golf course not really far away from where I live. The golf place is called Cool Creak Golf Club and my brother works there. At first when I started playing golf I kept on missing the ball which I thought was really embrassing. It's probably more embrassing then someone tripping over a flight of stairs when they are going up the stairs. My brother Chris who is on the high school golf team and my dad kept on enjouraging me to keep on trying. After a while I finally started to hit the ball but that doesn't mean that the ball was going straight. My dad video taped me swinging when I just started to play on the driving range and when I watched it my swing looked as bad as Charles Barkley's swing except I didn't stop my swing right before I got to the ball and then swung. My dad and brother kept giving me instructions on how to improve my swing. I felt my swing getting better the more times that I practiced. My dad signed me up for this junior program thing at Cool Creek which was a program where they teach you how to get better at golf. I wasn't the worst one at the program though so I don't know if I had gotten a lot better or some people were really bad. I don't think the program helped very much but I did win a medal. But I'll get to that part later. They started these competions where you do a putting, driving, chipping, and approach contests and see who does the best. Who ever did the best in each category got a medal. After they finished the competions we had to do a round of eighteen holes two days in a row. This I guess was to see who the best player was in each age group because there were kids who were around six or seven years old to kids who were sixteen or seventeen. On one round I shot a 99 and on the other round I shot a 112. The day I shot a 112 my mom and my brother came to watch me play and that was probably why I played bad. But the big key to me playing bad was that I had a twelve on two holes. After the second round was over everyone who participated in it went into the clubhouse for the closing ceremony where they have food, prizes, and the awards. I was just finishing my plate of food when they started to give out the awards. I wasn't expecting to win any of the awards in my age group because a lot of people in my age group were better then me. Then the winners of the driving award were being called and when it came to my age group I was called up to recive the award. I was so shocked I might have fallen over when I got up from my chair. Luckily I didn't so I went up and got my award and sat back down. When my mom, brother, and me were about ready to leave Chris said, "I think that I should have the award because I'm the one that taught you everything."
I slowly held out the award to hand to him but just when he was about to grab it I said, "No way." Everyone started laughing and that it my connection to the picture of John Daly playing golf.
